You would most certainly have avoided this injury if were to use a more sensible gear (like my 33/20), a freewheel and brakes. It's disgraceful that other road users have to surround themselves in a tonne of steel for protection from you brakeless menaces to society.

p.s. Say "Hi" to skinnygirlflab for me.
p.p.s. Motor Finance Wizard says "Yes".

I saw the diagram drawn in pancake sugar. Brakes on the bike would not have helped.

I take it easy on the road, so I get to my destination in one piece. But then ain't nobody hiring me as a bicycle courier.

I wasn't on my fixie. I was on a cursed shimano 600 with both brakes intact. Biopace too :) email me at alex4point0 at gmail dot com.

The part that stunned me was the driver telling the police "yes, he's all right". Frickin' apathetic bastards. (Decide for yourself to whom this epithet applies.)

Well I think we were both in shock, and the driver either wasn't talking to the cops at all, and it was all a con, or they failed to mention the broken windscreen part. Either way, there's a report in the system now and I can get the ball rolling, finally, on the workcover claim.

Mind you, once I explained the accident to the cops, 'I turned right because the road looked clear' ... 'and then they hit me', they warned me that if I filed the report they'd have to book me for failing to give way. I pressed ahead - but now the insurance companies will be able to lay fault. Fuck.
